Terms of Use

Please read these terms carefully before accessing CILG's website, portals, programmes, or professional services. By engaging with any CILG platform or service, you agree to be bound by these terms.

Introduction

These Terms of Use govern your access to all websites, portals, services, qualifications, and programmes offered by the Chartered Institute of Leadership and Governance ("CILG", "we", "our"). Read together with our Privacy Policy and Membership Framework.

Important: If you do not agree, cease using CILG services immediately.

Definitions

Key Terms

"CILG"The Chartered Institute of Leadership and Governance, including all divisions and committees.
"Member"Individual registered under a recognised CILG membership grade.
"Services"Qualifications, certifications, programmes, events, portals, and publications.
"Credential"Post-nominal designations (AffCILG, MCILG, SMCILG, FCILG) and certificates.

Acceptance of Terms

By accessing any CILG website, submitting an application, or maintaining membership, you confirm you are at least 18 years old and agree to these Terms. Misrepresentation constitutes grounds for immediate cancellation.

Membership Terms & Conditions

Membership eligibility is set out in the Membership Framework. CILG may approve or decline any application. All Members must maintain CPD requirements, pay annual fees, comply with the Code of Professional Conduct, and notify CILG of any changes affecting suitability. Membership renews annually; late payment results in suspension.

Corporate Membership

Corporate Members are bound by these Terms and any separate Corporate Agreement. In case of conflict, the Corporate Agreement prevails.

Credentials & Designations

Post-nominal designations (AffCILG, MCILG, SMCILG, FCILG) are granted conditionally and remain CILG property. Use only while membership is active and in good standing. CILG maintains a public Verification Portal; by holding membership you consent to your name, grade, and status being included. Misuse of credentials may result in revocation and legal action.

Fraudulent Claims: Any false claim to hold a CILG credential is a serious breach and may be referred to regulatory authorities.

Intellectual Property Rights

All content โ€” qualification frameworks, syllabi, logos, post-nominals, website design โ€” is the exclusive property of CILG. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or commercially exploit any CILG material without written consent. Unauthorised use of CILG trademarks is strictly prohibited.

Acceptable Use & Professional Conduct

All users must act with integrity and respect. Prohibited activities include: providing false information, impersonation, unauthorised access, malware distribution, harassment, fraud, and any conduct bringing CILG into disrepute. Members are bound by the Code of Professional Conduct. Breach may result in disciplinary proceedings up to permanent removal from the Register.

Privacy & Data Protection

CILG processes personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We collect identity, contact, professional, and usage data to administer membership, maintain the Register, and operate the Verification Portal. CILG does not sell your data. You have rights of access, rectification, erasure, and objection. See full Privacy Policy for details.

Fees, Payments & Refunds

All fees are in USD and are generally non-refundable. Late payment results in suspension and potential termination. Examination fees may be partially refundable with 14+ days' notice. Event cancellation terms published separately. CILG reserves the right to revise fees with 30 days' notice.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CILG is not liable for any indirect, consequential, or incidental damages arising from use of its services. CILG provides services "as is" without warranty. You indemnify CILG against claims arising from your breach of these Terms or misuse of credentials.

Termination & Suspension

Members may resign voluntarily. CILG may suspend or terminate membership for non-payment, breach of Code, false information, or pending investigation. Upon termination, all use of CILG credentials must cease immediately. CILG will update the Verification Portal accordingly.

Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, USA. Disputes shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation, then mediation, and finally the exclusive jurisdiction of Michigan courts.
