OVERVIEW

This comprehensive program equips participants with advanced knowledge and skills in leadership and governance best practices. Participants will develop the ability to lead ethically and effectively, formulate sound governance policies, and foster a culture of transparency and accountability. The course emphasizes strategic thinking, decision-making, and ethical leadership within diverse organizational and societal contexts.   • Covers the history, benefits, and fundamental principles of corporate governance, including key actors and governance structures. 

Ethical Leadership and Accountability

  • Explores ethical leadership, integrity, and the establishment of accountable governance practices.

Board Structure and Responsibilities

  • Examines board composition, roles, independence, and their effectiveness in corporate oversight.

Governance Architecture and Reporting

  • Focuses on structuring governance frameworks for transparency and compliance, including reporting requirements.

Strategy, Culture, and Performance

  • Addresses how to align governance with corporate strategy, cultivate a strong culture, and enhance overall performance. 

Risk Management and Compliance

  • Integrates enterprise risk management with governance strategies to identify and mitigate risks and ensure compliance with regulations.

Financial Oversight and Controls

  • Details the importance of financial transparency, internal controls, and accountability in corporate governance.

Sustainability and ESG

  • Applies ESG principles to governance to promote long-term sustainability and stakeholder trust. 

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Covers effective communication and engagement strategies with investors, regulators, and other stakeholders.

  • Focuses on building organizational resilience and navigating governance challenges during crises.

Digital Governance & AI

  • Explores the implications of emerging technologies, such as AI, and their impact on corporate governance.

Board Evaluations

  • Teaches methods for evaluating board effectiveness, performance, and accountability.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in any discipline
  • Minimum of Master’s degree in related fields like Leadership and Governance and other related fields.
  • Minimum of at least 3-5 years in supervisory or managerial roles, public service or administration, institutional governance or board participation.
  • Applicants must provide completed CILG certification form, copies of academic certificates, updated CV or résumé valid national ID, passport-size photograph, proof of work experience.
