Certificate Verification
Purpose
The Chartered Institute of Leadership and Governance (CILG) issues professional certificates to recognize the achievements of members who have successfully completed qualifications, training programs, or membership requirements. The Certificate Verification Guideline ensures the authenticity, integrity, and global recognition of all CILG-issued certificates. Verification protects stakeholders, employers, and institutions from fraudulent claims and strengthens the credibility of the Institute’s qualifications.
Scope
These guidelines apply to:
- All academic and professional certificates issued by CILG, including:
- Membership certificates (ACILG, MCILG, FCILG)
- Qualification certificates (Levels 1–6)
- CPD completion certificates
- Requests from:
- Employers or corporate HR departments
- Educational institutions
- Government and regulatory agencies
- Third-party verification agencies
- Individual certificate holders
Verification Process
Step 1 – Submission of Verification Request
- Verification requests must be submitted via the official CILG verification portal or in writing to the Secretariat.
- Requests must include:
- Full name of the certificate holder
- Certificate type and level
- Certificate number or registration ID
- Date of issue
- Purpose of verification
- Contact details of the requesting organization or individual
Step 2 – Preliminary Review
- The Secretariat confirms that the certificate exists in the official records.
- Any incomplete or inaccurate requests are returned to the requester for clarification.
Step 3 – Authenticity Check
- Verification includes cross-checking:
- Member or student registration details
- Examination or assessment records
- Payment of fees and completion of CPD requirements (if applicable)
- Only certificates that meet all criteria are confirmed as authentic.
Step 4 – Verification Response
- CILG issues an official verification response within 7–14 working days of receiving a complete request.
- Verification responses include:
- Confirmation of certificate authenticity
- Name of the certificate holder
- Type and level of certificate
- Date of issue
- Signature of authorized CILG officer or digital seal
- Verification responses may be sent electronically (secure PDF) or in printed form.
Verification Fees
- Certificate verification services may be subject to a nominal administrative fee.
- Fees are payable in accordance with CILG’s financial regulations and may vary for domestic and international requests.
Digital Verification
- All CILG certificates are encoded with unique verification codes
- Third parties can verify authenticity online by entering the certificate code on the official CILG verification portal.
- Digital verification ensures instant confirmation and reduces the risk of fraud.
Confidentiality and Data Protection
- All certificate verification requests and responses are handled in accordance with CILG’s data protection policies.
- Personal information is shared only with authorized parties and solely for verification purposes.
Fraud Prevention and Reporting
- Any attempt to falsify or misuse a CILG certificate is considered professional misconduct.
- Such cases are referred to the Membership and Professional Standards Committee for investigation.
- Verified cases of fraud may lead to:
- Revocation of membership or certification
- Legal action under applicable laws
- Public notification to relevant stakeholder
